It was in the spring of 2003 that a group of graduates students and human righst activists met and decided to establish a forum for international law research and human rights monitoring. This was an effort to be provide an independent forum through which students, graduates and interested human rights activists would partake research in matters of international public law as well as monitor the respect of human rights.
Originally the plan was to have this as an informal gathering and/or organisation. However, due to the difficulties in accessing funding as an informal organisation, it was decided in late 2003 to go ahead and have the organisation registered.
The ILRHMC is a member of different networks, including the European Network Against Racism(ENAR) and the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants. |
